The inventors, a husband-and-wife team well into their 70’s, have patented their device and are planning to market their idea, with the majority of the profits going to non-profit organizations and to help other inventors get their ideas to market.
Having used similar units in their home for the past several years, they realized that the convenience and savings they were experiencing would have a broad market.
When Bob returned home in 1956 after completing his military obligation, he found that his former job (in his dad’s restaurant!) was no longer available.
Realizing that a large number of military service people would soon be coming home from the Middle-East, he wondered if a job market could be created to help our heroes in their transition from military to civilian life installing Mr. Spensers for the general public.
The veterans would own their own business and be their own bosses. We would establish a cadre of those who sustained injuries that would make it impossible for them to do the installations, but would provide the link between the American public who would like to have their units delivered and installed and our brave and courageous young men and women who have served our country and are now ready to proceed with the best part of their lives, by having a business of their own.
IT IS ON THIS PREMISE THAT THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN MADE PUBLIC.
The amputees’ toll-free number will be placed in each package of a Mr. Spenser box. Also public service announcements on radio, TV and newspapers would alert the public where to order their unit and have it installed. The amputee would call his or her fellow service person who lives in or near the same ZIP code as the person requesting the installation. The installer would then make arrangements with the customer for a convenient time to do the job. When completed, the installer will give the veteran who forwarded the call 10% of the installation fee, so they too would have an income and own their own businesses.
It’s a win-win situation for all concerned.
Mr. Spenser, Inc. will donate a percentage of their sales to a college fund for the children of those whose parent GAVE IT ALL, thus helping to insure an education for those parents who can no longer provide it for them.
